Stories are the most powerful tool you have at your disposal – and can be one of the most challenging to use effectively.
A tale told too simply, without sufficient texture or ambiguities, will leave your congregants yawning or feeling spoken down to. However, if the story is too complex, you will foster confusion, disinterest, and dissatisfaction.
The ideal story succeeds because it is told with an open heart, follows the narrative structure naturally, and contains a twist that inspires engagement long after you’ve left the pulpit.
I will teach you how to create, hone, and deliver spiritual stories that touch your congregants deeply. Through a combination of didactic material (models for learning and communication), creative exercises, one-to-one interactions, and practical critiques of your content and style, you will be able to deliver truly engaging, transformational stories to your congregation.
Most instruction is individualized, and not tied to any particular theology. If there is sufficient interest, I can work with small groups online, or deliver workshops onsite.
